Diamonds Athuruga Island Resort
Athuruga Island Resort is the twin island of it sister Thundufushi Island Resort. The island comprises of a thick vegetation of coconut palms and surrounded by powdery beach which extends to one side of the island. The lagoon on this side is small and the superb house reef is within the swimming distance while on the other side the lagoon is very large, sandy and is ideal for paddling around.
Athuruga Island resort is best described as an elegant and intimate holiday resort with a high standard of service which offers offer All Inclusive only. There are only 51 rooms, named as 46 Beach Bungalows and 05 garden Villas.
Catamaran, laser boat, canoe, windsurfs offered free to guests who must be experienced & licensed for these activities. Snorkeling equipment are offered free against a deposit towards loss of damage. Free guided snorkeling on house reef daily. Free laundry service. Aerobic, stretching, water gym and dance lessons free of charge.1 sunset fishing and 1 fisherman island excursion per stay included free. Beach towels provided free. Spent Xmas at this resort and what a great time. It was my 50th birthday and also got engaged. Stayed in a beach bungalow (no 32) which was fine, cleaned daily, sheets changed and washing done for free!! From the manager down, evryone was so friendly, helpful and made our stay very special. Nothing was ever too much trouble, I cannot say enough how much we enjoyed this holiday. The house reef is wonderful and the diving team terrific as they introduced us to our first diving experience. The Xmas dinner meal was a magnificent spread and all staff from the guys that just brush up the leaves, to waiters, bar staff etc truly do a great job.
A good choice for the Maldives

You can walk around this entire island in about 8 minutes. It's a perfect choice for those who really want to get away from it all. I really liked the fact that it was so small, with few rooms - the island didn't feel over crowded.
The spa here is great - really good treatments, and lovely staff. The restaurant fare in general was good, high quality and plentiful particularly the BBQ - excellent fresh fish! The house reef and twice daily guided snorkelling trips are an added treat. They also have a complimetary laundry service which is very useful for those who like to travel light!

Manchester to Dubai, Dubai to Male, Male to Athuruga long flights and very tired, husband says "how long will it take you to recover from that?" - boat picks us up and takes us to the jetty just a very short walk to reception where we were given a refreshing drink, fruit and cool cloth - I tell my husband "I'm recovered" :)
First room (No. 9) was too close to the generator and rather noisy, on our request to be moved, we were, without any problems to No.43 opposite side of the island and no noise.Victor, customer relations was excellent, friendly and helpful.
The island is stunning, with a fantastic house reef, we saw hundreds of brightly coloured fish while snorkelling, a moray eel, eagle rays and turtles. Even when on the beach you could see small, black tip reef sharks and small rays. We were lucky enough one evening to see 3 dolphins pass by at the end of the jetty. I recommend the twice daily guided snorkel trips as the current can be strong and for less confident/first timers it is reassuring.
Meals were good, meat, fish, pasta or pizza, fruit, salads and sushi. With Christian singing at lunch and evening meal times.
Waiter service for drinks at the table. All staff, garden, room, bar, restaurant and sunset bar were excellent. Free laundry service was excellent too. We met some lovely people who made our holiday even more memorable. Top tip: over water bar for cocktails while watching the sun set.
