Our family run beach hotel is situated on the north-western coast of Zanzibar Island, on the beautiful turquoise coastline of Nungwi. A warm welcome awaits you. Ideally situated for swimming, snorkeling and diving activities.
Mnemba Atoll, just a short boat trip away, is one of the best diving spots in the world. This Zanzibar hotel lies within a private tropical garden, which fronts the famous north-West Coast beaches. There are also 5 diving centres and 2 deep sea fishing companies just 5 minutes walk away.
We offer comfortable accommodation in a tranquil setting. Standard rooms have either twin beds or double beds. Desert Rose is our honeymoon suite Our family suites, Rosemary & Thyme (2 bedroom family suite with interconnecting doors) Jasmin-1 a 2 bedroom family suite with a central sitting room & Guava & Lime - adjacent rooms, each with its own entrance and its own shady veranda but there is a lockable connecting door to turn these rooms into a family suite.
At Flame Tree Cottages we believe in a responsibility to the community and as such, the majority of our staff are from the local village of Nungwi. Much of the furniture you will find at Flame Tree Cottages has been made by a local carpenter. Local labour was used for the construction of Flame Tree Cottages.
Our chef provides snacks during the day and dinner in the evenings with a half board option if required. A cooked breakfast is served either on your own veranda or communally at the garden restaurant.
Snacks can either be served on your own veranda, in the sunbathing area or at the restaurant and are available daily. Evening meals are prepared to order by our resident chef and can be served on a table up near the sea with candles for a romantic touch.
If on the rare occasion the weather is inclement, we are fortunate enough to be able to serve dinner in the equally tranquil and enjoyable garden restaurant.The tranquility of the beach restaurant ensures a pleasant and memorable dining experience

Flame Tree Cottages is a very nice and peaceful place in Nungwi on the North coast of Zanzibar. Flame Tree is a basic resort with beautiful gardens, a beautiful pool and best sea views. It is located towards the end of the Nungwi beach therefore quieter but still within a short walking distance for all the other restaurants and bars.

Thank you Africa Stay. We had such a good holiday in Zanzibar. We had a very relaxing time at the Flame tree cottages, just what we needed. Nice restaurant. The staff were all very friendly. As it was in low season the resort was very quiet so we enjoyed the pool to ourselves most of the day.
