Shangani Hotel is in the heart of Stone Town along Kenyatta Road. It is not the most fantastic place, but is one of the better budget hotels in Stone Town. Centrally located, it is ideal for the person wanting to walk around town. Another advantage is it's close proximity to banks where you may want to exchange cash. The rooftop restaurant has a good view over Stone Town and the food is not bad. Do not expect lavish furnishings or rooms with fantastic views.
There are 27 rooms in total. All rooms have a ceiling fan, air conditioning, telephones, mini bars and television. All beds have mosquito netting. Safe deposit boxes are available on request. The rooms are kept clean and 23 of the rooms have their own bathrooms, whilst 4 of the rooms share amenities, 1 bathroom for 2 rooms. If you are wanting a place to just put your head down at night, then this is for you.

Please don't visit Africa & expect it to be Europe/USA-but-more exotic. It's not. It's a completely different culture, a much simpler and honest one. If you want luxury stay at home, (or stay in Africa & be on the outside looking in).
Shangani hotel is modest, clean and comfortable. If you don't love this hotel you've either got so much money you shouldn't be here or are so far removed from reality that no one wants to listen to you anyway.
